WEEDS

My hubby used to surprise me with gifts when he comes home from work. The current surprise is the complete 4-Seasons of the American dark comedy television series entitled "THE WEEDS"

I can't come to our Hong Kong office without a passport.. So here I am enjoying my blogging time and yes, my WEEDS. You must get one too, just make sure the children are not around. The plot is kind of un-friendly to children and as wikipedia said, weeds is a DARK COMEDY.. I guess I can finish this in one seating.

I got various collections: All available seasons of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, GOSSIP GIRLS, 7th HEAVEN, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, DIRTY SEXY MONEY, GILMORE GIRLS, THE MISTRESSES, SWEET VALLEY HIGH and the love of our life JAMIE, THE NAKED CHEF..

I'm not sure when I could have my passport back but I don't mind, as long as I have another bunch of the best American series. Gotta get the next season of "GILMORE GIRLS", perhaps..? hmmnn..

And oh America, please give us more of the 7th HEAVEN.. the best series for the whole family!

WEEDS, the series
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Weeds is an American dark comedy television series created by Jenji Kohan, produced by Lionsgate Television for the Showtime network.

The plot revolves around a widowed housewife (Mary-Louise Parker) from an affluent California suburb who becomes her neighborhood's marijuana dealer to make ends meet. The title is a play on words, referring to both the slang term for marijuana, and widow's weeds. It also refers to the tendency of American suburbs to grow quickly and pervasively, with the dwellings and their residents being almost as indistinguishable as weeds; this is mirrored in the show's theme song "Little Boxes" and opening credits, and is a recurring theme of the show itself.

Weeds currently comprises four seasons that began airing in August 2005. It was the highest rated series for Showtime its first year; its fourth-season premiere attracted 1.3 million viewers to Showtime, that channel's highest-ever viewership; the season as a whole averaged 962,000 viewers.[citation needed] Showtime announced on July 18, 2008 that two more seasons of thirteen episodes each will be produced.[1]

Mary-Louise Parker won a Golden Globe for her performance on the show, and Jenji Kohan won a WGA award for her screenplay for the pilot episode. Season 5 is currently in production and will air in May 2009 according to the official website.[2]

Hi Loida,
I haven't watched Weeds before. I'm usually to busy to watch TV these days...LOL!

Which season of the Gilmore Girls do you need? Let me know. I haven't watched that either so I'm not familiar as to how many seasons they have going so far.

Well I'm off to bed. Hope you and the family have a great day!

Love always,
Deanna :D

I haven't seen that one yet but I'm guessing it has the same setting as "Desperate Housewives". These "pseudo-setcoms" are popular in the States because it identifies with people living in the suburbs.

I've never heard of the series before but I hope you enjoy it. I like watching CSI and NCIS - I prefer detective programmes and films. Take care, Judith

Dearest Deanna,

Thanks for visiting. It's OK, I guess WEEDS is not for you. I only got Seasons 1 and 2 of the GILMORE GIRLS.. I heard from Bonnie of One Designing Woman, that it has 18 Seasons.. Oh My God, I need an entire week for that!

Hey friend, please get your FRIENDSHIP AWARD on my recent post below.. It originated from Germany.. (courtesy of Debby of my My Pink Birdhouse)

Have a good night now..

My dear MIGHTYDACZ,
I'm really glad you call me Tita Loida, I'm highly touched. I always mistaken you for Doc RJ of Australia.. Minsan nagko-comment ako for you on his space. Pareho yata kayo ng age 'no? You're like my sons. Nice to know too you took your degree from Centro Escolar University. My sons got their initial degrees there but they graduated here.

WEEDS is nice except that I'm not satisfied with the ending.. OO tama wag ka na uulit or you'll end up like some of the characters in the WEEDS.. Grabe..

Please stick to 7th HEAVEN and GOSSIP GIRLS.. It's more wholesome..

Care,
Tita Loida

Good Sunday Afternoon!
Loved your post.... I am one American who watches very little television. The news has become very gloomy so I don't watch much of that. I do enjoy misic. I love classical, jazz an ethnic music. My newest passion is Italian Opera.
Have a great week!!

I never watched weeds. My son says I would like it, but I have a few shows that my faithful TIVO gets for me, and I hardly have time for them.

I like documentaries, any my old-time favorites, when I can find them, are the old Brit sitcoms. I especially enjoy Absolutely Fabulous, and Keeping up Appearances.

I am running way behind. I miss out little chats, and I still have to pick up that award.

My husband is supposed to have a few pieces of his art in an show in Texas, and I am trying to gather things for them for blowups to go with the theme, so I have been searching three old hard drives for things they need. My filing system is good now, but it used to really bad. I can't find anything that is over 3 years old!

Thinking of you every time I sit down to tea!

Gotta run.

Take care.

Oh, send me a personal email and tell me what, oh what, to do with your package? Should I save it or send it on its way?

I think you watch more of our TV than I do!
But tonight I am stuck in a hotel in New York ... so guess I'll get caught up! Love reading your thinking!

Loida of the 2L3B's said...

Dear MARILYN,
Thanks for dropping by. I deeply understand. Not only in America but it seems all over the world wherein news are gloomy. Good to know you love Jazz. My husband has a nightly jazz gig with his fellow musicians. That's his business, deploying bands to various hotels and bars here. And yeah, Jazz is cool as well as ethnic..!
best regards,
loida

My dear Patty,
Hi thanks for dropping by even though you're busy.. Hahaha, your must watch weeds, it's kinda cool.. My husband has National Geographic Collections, I hope I could send it to you but you know, even the single CD Reggie Girl has sent here cannot get through.. Oh well, this is China.. It's up to you my friend if you wish to send it as long as it is not CD of tea. They might think its weeds.. hehehe :) Good luck on your husband Tivo's Art Show in Texas.. I hope there is a website so I can visit it.. I love to see his works and yours. I sometimes visit your web page when I get time.. See you my friend and have a nice week ahead..
cares a lot, loida

Dear DEBBY,

...haven't seen this in the Australian free air channels. Sad... I don't have the cable channels, only The Filipino Channel. o",)

Weeds, in Filipino is Damo. Huhmn. Okay.

Have you seen the Lipstick Jungle, Ate Loida? It's for the ladies.

Loida of the 2L3B's said...

Dear RJ,
TFC is cool. OO damo nga, hehehe. Yeah, the Lipstick Jungle is on-going in Pearl Channel here. Thanks for informing me this. It's kind of a Desperate Housewives copy cat but the plot revolves in their respective jobs and yes I like it too..
Have a safe and enjoyable week there.. Wag ka masyado magpagod hane..
Care,
Ate Loida

Hi Loida- You know even I'm now an American citizen and came from US (I've been there for 12 yrs and recently moved here in Japan (temporarily) due to military relocation)I haven't watched any of those series you mentioned hahaha I was so busy working that time and now here in Japan, I'm busy with blog hopping aside from updating my blogs :-). But anyways, thanks for sharing and I hope I can watch the "weeds" too, I 'll try :-) I really like your blog and you look so friendly and nice :-) Keep it up!

Loida of the 2L3B's said...

Dearest Sardonyx,
Thanks a lot.. I'm always confused pls forgive me.. Is Missy and Sardonyx one and the same? I often visit your blogs and it has 3 sites. Sometimes it confuses me where my comments goes..
Thanks a lot for the compliments. I am touched. Yeah, those American series are so fun and entertaining.. Maybe you're really busy not to have the time for this kind of trivial things, and it seems you're quite busy travelling.
I used to watched available series during weekends and during spare time together with my daughter. Kind of bonding moments and it's really worthwhile..
Really nice meeting you here the blog land.. Care,
Loida

Loida, my girls and I love to watch Gilmore Girls too, and I have been wanting to buy the whole series on DVD to give to them for Christmas one of these years. I myself still love best the old "Golden Girls" series and have them on DVD. They have been keeping me company while still layed up with the knee. Those girls really keep me laughing.

Loida dear, the package arrived with this morning's mail and I can not THANK YOU enough for the book, which I have already started and for all the little extra goodies you tucked into the box! You are just toooo sweet for sending me such lovely things. Customs did not check the box, which was a bonus since they too often open things to see what is inside. German customs are very strict, which I guess is good, unless it is my boxes that they want to check. :-) Anyway, what a dear person you are for taking the time and expense to send me the book! Picture me with my nose buried in it for the next few days! Have a great Monday, Debby

Loida of the 2L3B's said...

Dear Debby, I am happy that you finally got the package. Sorry, the book is kind of old because I lent it to my friends before. Please keep it and have an enjoyable time reading it.. Hope you get well soon.. Care,
Loida

I don't think that I've ever seen Weeds but a girlfriend told me that is's really good.
Prince and I watch a lot of the History Channel and we love House. Hugh Laurie used to be on a British series called Black Adder that we love. And we can't get enought of the Vicar of Dembley. British humor is usually a little dry and not every one gets it but Prince and I laugh at the crazy play on words and the double entendres. It kind of reminds us of the old Benny Hill show....without all the half naked girls.....which of course Prince hated, lol.
Take good care Loida and....

Steady On
