China Houses Photo Shoot-Outs

In the early times, the homes of common chinese people were mostly made of stone, tamped mud or sun-dried bricks reinforced with straw in the north. While in the South, homes were made of wood, bricks or woven bamboo as seen in the old house photo below as sourced from http://www.terragalleria.com


The upper-class Chinese house has a single story, with spacious open air courtyards, tiled roof; adorned with stone lion dogs, stone carvings, ornate carving frames, decorative and colorful latticeworks. Such architecture however rarely exists now in Shenzhen. The old single story homes were replaced by modern design high rise apartments with an average 12 square feet of space, a typical two-room to three-room apartment equipped with hallways, kitchen and bathroom.




When we first arrived here, majority of apartments were mostly 7-story high, but these days, Shenzhen is filling up with newly built 30 to 50th floor apartment complexes and condominiums.

I'm sorry Patty and Reggie Girl, there are no Victorian Houses here. But please find below the photo of the 7-story apartments and flats where I live and newly erected high-rise condominiums few blocks away from our home..

    What? No Victorian homes in China?!

    I love the third and fourth from the bottom. They look really nice.

    The one with the palm trees around it is super. I'll bet someone important lives there!

    And the view of those mountains! Beautiful!

    good morning PATTY, thanks that you liked my photo shoot-out.. yes, no victorian homes here in my side of china or i just can't find one where i live.. anyway, glad that i was able to show you around our neighborhood.. the tall skycrapers are for the rich while some of the extra-nice single story houses were mostly owned by the rich and famous nowadays..

    this is why we like staying here, we are surrounded with picturesque mountains, hills, parks and lake yet we're near everything a modern man could ever need..

    thanks for this photo shoot-out experience my friend Patty. Without your initiative, we would surely miss this chance to know more about our neighborhood..

    I wish I could also join the graveyard shoot outs but you see, here in China you have to climb a stiff mountains to get to their burial sites..

    These are some fun looks at the housing in China. It reminds me so much of the 3,000 photos that Jim came back with after visiting Honk Kong and Mainland China a few years ago.

    I loved the third picture. The roof and palm trees alomost look like Florida. And high rises in the fog. I'm about to post my own hometown shootout although being new to this, I saw houses and neglected the hometown part so posted a variety of houses or living spaces from all over and across several years.     Houses' designs and materials are usually based on the climate, natural resources/vegetations, cuture and tradition, lifestyle, etc. The photos in this blog clearly show the metamorphosis of Shenzhen from the simplicity of life in the yesteryears to a sophisticated place in the present times!

    I like your photo collection, Tita Loidz! It has really taken me to your lovely place in Southern China! It's a time travel, actually! U

    It's amazing how one can see the mountain just there in the background on the first photo. It is so.. peaceful?

    LOL, that is a ton of condominiums! We have it here too but I figured posting the uhm, old school houses? Thanks for the wonderful photos, it seems like everything is so.. polished and clean?

    What a great tour you took us on, showing us the style of homes in China. I could never have seen them other wise! I think I love the large white one with the palm trees all around it. How beautiful!! I think it is just great that you joined in on the fun of Reggie Girl and Patty, and did this photo shoot out with them. I can not wait until I can be up and about and join in too.
